LAKE TRASIMENO
THE EXPERIENCE
A slower day on the water.
Lake Trasimeno, just across the border in Umbria, is the fourth largest lake in Italy and one of the most peaceful. From Tuoro or Passignano you take the ferry to Isola Maggiore, a fishing village of one street, with stone houses, lace makers and an olive-covered hill.
Your guide walks you around the island and tells its story, from St Francis to the fishermen who still work the lake. Lunch is lake fish at a trattoria by the water, before the ferry back.
