Montepulciano has made wine for more than a thousand years, and Vino Nobile is its pride – Sangiovese grown on the slopes around the town. We take you to a small family estate rather than a big tasting room: the owner or the winemaker walks you through the vineyard, down into the barrel cellar and explains how each wine is made.
Then you sit down to taste five wines – from a fresh Rosso di Montepulciano to a Riserva – with local cheese, salumi and bread with the estate's own olive oil. There is no rush and no script: ask anything, and buy straight from the cellar if you find a bottle you love.
